thinking ahead I have been keeping my eyes open for places I would like to work for.

Factory create in Manchester is an animation house that specialises in 2d, 3d and stop motion animation. They mainly produce childrens TV shows but I would love to try and intern here and get some experience in the animation industry.

Vale productions is another animation house that create 2d animations. They also create the short films for “The school of life” which is a company I have been following and loved for many years. They write life advice videos on youtube to help with mental health issues and teach philosophy in an accesible and easily understandable way

I found a job that literally sounds perfect for me working as a content designer intern for MTV in london. I have all the skills they ask for on the advert and It sounds like such an exciting role.

I know its abit of a pipe dream right now but I would absolutely love to work for VICE. The content they put out is always interesting and has real bite to it, writing articles and creating to speak the truth about politics, sex, drugs, culture, art and all the rest.

We had a great turnout and it was so much fun for us to host an event and get our friends and a few strangers involved in viewing and discussing our art. It really brought the whole idea of creating to life and gave a real context and sense of purpose to designing. We were both so terrified to open ourselves up and show our work proudly on a wall but it was exhilarating in the end and I will definitely be doing this again soon. And I sold a print for £20 !

after a few email correspondences and chase-up phone calls, we secured a venue at the brunswick in the centre of town and visited the space beforehand to plan the layout of the work.

we asked a few friends to exhibit with us and including ourselves had 8 artists work to display.

after this, we posted flyers in key spots around the university area and hyde park. my favourite spots being on the university tesco bin and outside of UOL art school.

as a challenge to ourselves, myself and a good friend from leeds beckett graphic design decided we wanted to host our own exhibition. We decided to categorise the event as “print based art” making it easier for the work to be cohesive. It didnt take us long to come up with the name “Replace The Ink”. We collaborated on the event artwork and flyer design which my friend risograph printed.

myself and the client were really happy with the outcome of my design. adding the yellow cut out back drop adds an 80’s disco aesthetic to the poster. the pink figures with white highlight makes them look juicy and candy like.

The only live brief I have done for this project was to design some illustration’s for a new club night opening in the Manchester gay scene. these illustrations would become the house style for the event and would be used for the flyers, posters and social media material.

with these images as inspiration from the client I began to draw characters that would resonate with the theme of the event.

Taking inspiration from other popular gay club nights I began to compose the illustrations in photoshop and played around with varying colours.
