with this photoshop render I wanted to exaggerate the idea of “apocalypse” , adding comets and a red sky to create an end-of-days atmosphere. The people are sat on the hill, enjoying the view of the world ending before them. A romantic way to spend their last hours. I also wanted to maintain the hedonistic quality by adding two people having sex on a car behind them, still seeking pleasure until then end, spending their last moments in the height of human experience.

Building from the previous painting and adding more detail through photoshop rendering. I decided to use images of typical beach destination flat blocks in locations like Spain and Portugal. The view from the roof top was intended to create a scene of people partying and enjoying their last days before the sea engulfs them. Engaging in hedonist festivities like Sex, Drugs and Alcohol. To me this is also a reflection of society using methods of escapism to hide from the reality of the earths chaos and decline.

Alternative composition painted with acrylic.

trying out acrylic and spray paint on board. The same concept as the last image but with tower blocks instead. I used pink orange and blue spray paint to create depth with colour. Trying out composition and ideas of the sky/clouds falling into the choppy waves.

With this photoshop Render I wanted to bring the Climate Issue of Coastal flooding into a more Western residential context. Using terracotta tiled roofing, typical of British/American housing estates, submerged by the ocean. I think the recognisable roofing brings the issue closer to home and adds more of a pressing fear to the issue.

I decided to use photoshop to create a more realistic version of the previous image. I used Images of Palm trees burning in Florida as the backdrop. I did this so I could visualise the dimensions of the scene and have a more accurate and realistic reference to paint from (If I decided to do so)

Playing with the idea of hedonism in a more accesible form, the idea of vanity and “topping up the tan” , beauty as a form of self serving pleasure. These people are sunbathing and making the most of the climates rocketing temperatures. The Bathers have become accustom to the new world of scorched grass and burning foliage and see the opportunity to maintain their colouring a trendy terracotta-Fuschia . Thank God they invented those fire-proof towels ay!

This is the first sketch where I started to play with the idea of Hedonism; To bring my plans of “Sin, Sex and Madness” into a more sociological context. I wanted to show a visual combination between humanities addictive behaviour and the endless, self serving persuit of pleasure/ contrasted with Climate and societal decline. This image was inspired by the riots in Paris over the rise of Oil pricing. The idea of two people continuing with their hunt for personal satisfaction while observing the chaos that ensues outside. The window is a more direct metaphor for the way we view things today, through a screen. Home comfort/widespread external-Volatile behaviour.

I started toying with the idea of contrasting global warmings effect on the planet (here forest fires) and the human cause of it (or at-least one of them) burning of fossil fuels eg. cars. This sketch was inspired by the fires that swept the uk and the Yorkshire Moores, this year and last, which could be seen right next to the motorway. the people are stuck in traffic and are smoking cigarettes, chatting and walking on the roads, at this point used to the blazes that i’m sure will become ordinary at some point in the near future.
