To give the poster a more dangerous and agressive attitude, I decided that the pill would be in the form of a devil. I also found a drug bag with a blue printed pattern of women which I found really interesting and wanted to recreate

Away from working on the painting series, I wanted to create some screen-print designs. Not far from the “Hedonist Apocalypse” in subject, I wanted to design something around the subject of drugs. I began by drawing a little smiley face in a baggy to represent an ecstasy pill. I knew I wanted the pill to have the pill eating little stick figures on its tounge to communicate that drugs bite back; A more subtle and artistic version of a drug warning poster.

Painting from the bbq photoshop render. Keeping to my interests of hedonism I added Cigarettes and Alcohol to the characters. I also painted them nude, honestly Im unsure why and I don’t think its relevant to the message behind the image. I do just have an affinity with painting people naked. For one, It adds humour to the paintings, I also think its important to represent the naked human form in a way that isn’t pornographic or “dirty”. There’s a lot of pressure and disagreement in society around the naked body, It can bring a lot of harm and sadness to people and I think that painting these figures nude is a way for myself and other people to take it more lightly. I think it just makes for a more interesting image. I love this pair of paintings

Using the same theme of Forest fires to represent global warming, I wanted to depict a different perspective of human behaviour. I decided on a family bbq engulfed in flames , with children playing and the parents relaxing and catching the suns rays, oblivious of the blaze that has taken and passed them by. The stereotypical image of a man tending to his meat on the bbq makes the scene relatable and humorous. The bbq also comments on meat eating as a cause of global warming, with meat farming producing a large amount of emitted co2 gasses. I like the innocence and blissful ignorance in this image, and everyone loves a summer bbq so its hard for this image to not hit home.

painting from the last image, comets at the moment just before they crash into a residential housing estate. The pink shadows don’t work very well and the orange/red combination of the roof/housing isn’t very successful. I do like the representation of an estate and the pattern of lines it creates, with the land cutting off at an angle. I also decided that I didn’t like the comets as a representation of the world ending.
